FM07

So the game was relesead, we all bought it and played it, started braging with it. We noticed the graphic changes and we liked them or for those who didn’t they just had to embrace them and carry on. The main point is that we were all happy with the new release and to see that some of our suggestions have been followed by the creators and added in the game. Now, most of us are ecstatic when we get a new thing and it just so happens that we can never get bored of it but then, what about the skeptics? Why do they have to come and ruin everything for us? It’s a very known fact that no matter how much would the creators of FM struggle to make the game as realistic and fun to play as possible, there will always be people unsatisfied with certain stuff and some who just want to ruin the mood to play for the rest.

The most common exampel would be the forums of different FM sites. Everybody hangs around on forums and share opinions about tactics, players and graphics, and here comes to most opportun moment for the *party crashers* to make their appereance. Have you noticed how it happens that when you have a nice game going, for example with Ajax, and the results are fair, the players do exactely what they are told, someone pops up and says I DON’T LIKE THIS GAME, this is the worst of its series. Oh, i get so many red cards, my players get injured so often, my goalkeeper can’t defend a back pass and all this stuff… And then everybody starts complaining about it; things that haven’t even been noticed before start to come out on top and even the good guys are looking for mistakes from the game. Oh yeah, you’re right, my game is crazy too, the referee gives way too many cards, the board goes over my decisions and bla bla bla. Oh why don’t you take that load of crap and shuve it?

The more the game advances in versions, the more complicated and real it gets. There are no levels of difficulty here… there are no *gave away* games… there are no *payed off* referees… it’s all in your head and you’d better grow up. Nobody is playing the game for you so therefor you are the only one who’s guilty if he’s team doesn’t perform. Change tactics, change formations, change players, use cheats… do something and stop complaining about your problems because YOU are destroying the game for everybody else. Ah, i know that is something else when you ask for advice but maybe you should do it in such a manner that you don’t upset everybody else too.

We just consider everything i said above history and we move on what it is to follow. My questions are: Will we see another FM this year? Are the SI experts satisfied with the people’s oppinion? And if they aren’t how are they gonna reply back?
MY idea is that they should follow the same pattern as they did untill now because a new face of the game at this time could really blow up in a negative way for the passionates. Pick up all the suggestions that you think is good and don’t hurry with adding so much new stuff that will turn the game into something that it shouldn’t supposed to be.

Anything else doesn’t matter, you do what you have to do and we are going to keep fighting over who’s right and who’s wrong, over which version is best and we also promise to be as ungratefull as we can twoardss your compassion of providing us with a new game when you can very well play it safe and join with EA Sports for example, and leaves the hugest swallowed lipp ever :) )

Scene of 2007

January 25, 2007

The year of 2007 is upon us, a year of new years resolutions, teams hitting form, teams losing it. But what does 2007 hold for the FM scene?

The New Throw-in – Manager Crisis:-
Manager Crisis, a brilliant main design, the forums are in need of a make over and are currently going threw a new makeover. Maybe the Waytey and Zebian effect has warn off, but if the site continues to look good, and keeps the community chat up, we could soon be looking at the biggest site of the scene.

The New Dugout – FMBritian :-
No matter how hard they try, it seems at the moment FM Britain is going threw bad times, A new design is been worked on, it looks good, but maybe not enough to get the site up the Scene table, Articles are been added at a much quicker rate, the forums are still inactive, but hard work may see the site threw or kill it off, when the new design comes out, if the site is still inactive, this could be the end of the site.

The New Susie – FMGraphics :-
With Susie constantly been slow, and frustrating , this calls for the next catalogue of downloads FMGraphics, with hard working GFX staff working exclusively, and coming up with the new GFX ideas such as Stadium Title bars. With the forums now active in all sections, the content will rise highly, this could be the new Susie.

The New Scene Craze – Blogs :-

Not only blogs but rant blogs, blogs against the FM scene, more people on the scene are becoming opinionated and the best way of showing this is via blogs. Over the next few months there will be a much higher increase in sites giving there controversial opinions.

The New Unsung Hero – MymanagerCV :-

The best concept of a site I have seen, fantastically set up, the forums offer great tactile help, thanks to Cleon, and his amazing articles. The site will finally let you boast about your FM achievements and see if you are as good as you think you are.

The New New Flop – Fcuk :-

Fcuk is coming back, but I believe it will be the next new site to flop and end up as just an idea that could have, Reopening the site, wont instantly get all the old members back and staff and make it as popular as it once was. Maybe the breathe of new air was needed, or maybe not.

The New Scene Toper – The-Beautiful-Game :-

I have heard a few ideas of the new fan site, it wont be short of opinions, ran by Fantastic and with great staff, the site has the makings to be a top site, I am sure closer to the opening, you will see some of fantastic proper gander posters, to lure attention to the site, but the site will get attention for the right reasons, lets just hope its going to last longer than other projects, such as Balls.

I know you wont agree with most of my views, but remember that’s what they are my personal views, the idea of this is so you can share yours by discussing them and not having a rant at me for expressing my opinions,

Marvellous.

Does The Scene Need More?

January 25, 2007

I see many threads, asking members of certain forums, “What would you like to see from the scene”, “What do you think the scene needs?”. But I ask you dose the scene need any more? Most areas have already been covered. Sortitoutsi or Susie as it were, provides great downloads a few articles and has very active forums, but with all its positives, a slow servers makes members frustrated. Throw-in known as TI, a very strong community, some very dedicated members although the GFX side of things isn’t the best on the scene, This is were other sites come in such as Susie as and FMGraphics, to cut along story short the scene already has everything you need, things you cant get on certain sites you can on others.

What the scene doesn’t need is any more pure fan sites, the scene has plenty of site giving nothing in particular, apart from chat about the game, a couple of GFX a splash of articles and people wonder why members aren’t coming to the site, the answer is it has nothing to offer, it needs a USP – Unique selling point, something that will appeal to people and make them change from there current site to your site, Why shop at Netto when you can shop at Tesco? The only reason a core FM site could work, would be if it had great staff, It is near impossible for someone making a new site, for the fist time, with an average reputation, to make there site succeed.

So does the scene need more? Personally there are a few elements I would like to see elaborated such as certain LLM areas improved, FM:B/FM Britain have made the only few steps towards improving this area, but as I often check up on FM:B it’s a very inactive site so it has not had the activity or input required, to make anything off it. There for I believe a LLM site should be established, the site should mainly concentrate on Tactics and Training as it is more fundamental to Lower League Management. Benefits of the site include improving the awareness of LLM and T&T or Tactics and Training, the more management side of the game, elements of LLM and the tactics learnt from the site, can also be used on your other games saves, giving you an all-round education on the game.

Once you have your idea, I am going to try and help you and the scene by making the site, end up with a URL and not just an idea, that once could have worked, If you would have had the inclination to do so.

Making the site, when you come to make a site, you have your idea for this we shall use the LLM idea. I have my idea then you will need to get other such things sorted like a name/domain, forums and hosting. Lets say you have all this, and you have your concept of the site, you will need to get your site sorted out. There are a few things you will need to take aboard, People who agree with your views from been around the scene, this will give them more motivation to work with you and make the site a success and for full its potential. So with a bit of research I see there are a couple of areas I need staff for, I need some form of Tactics/Training staff member and as I will need to tutor people so that there are a few more members my site will appeal to, so Guides are the best way and there Is no better person than Cleon, a Tactical genius who’s articles are of a second to none standed, as you may need a second T&T staff member Gobwolf would be a great catch, with fantastic experience in the matter, his tips could help you improve no end. As for the actual LLM side of things, Fantastic/ Fanny shares similar views that the LLM side of things should be improved, He has wrote an inspirational article, other such articles are needed for a wider audience and should intrigue people to come visit and post and improve that side of there FM.

Staff is sorted, your concept and now you will have some content from your staff but you may need more, for this you will need to go around the scene collecting relevant articles and getting authors permissions. Now you have the content and everything else you need except a design, there are a few ways of going about this, using Joomla and creating a fresh easy to use site, but that is the main aim, Is to make people look twice then once they are looking twice make it easy to navigate, this may take time to get the right soft where design etc, but its worth it, You may want to advertise your site, there are a few ways, personally I would say plug it early to get peoples awareness up and make people interested, if they like the concept they will keep checking back, don’t keep them waiting to long as they will get feed up, make a promo video is a good idea to get people into the swing of things, just make sure that’s not all you offer and make sure the site follows. Use propaganda posters a favourite of Fanny’s but these are very effective, but they most be done write and portray a good image of the site and make your views clear.

In conclusion there is little point, in starting a site that offers nothing new, the only way it could possibly work is great staff which would attract members and kick start a growing community, but as for new comers etc, It is very hard to create a successful site that why you have to come up with a clear goal and work towards that, so yes the scene dose need more, but no the scene doesn’t need unnecessary additions, so new comers beware it may be a waste of time/effort and money, but that’s for you to decide.

This article was to try and inspire the scene and to try and get the most out of it, Some people mentioned were used as examples don’t feel any reason to fore fill your duty, as you were the cream of the crop and your names were necessarily included for the sake of the article, Thanks for reading, hope it inspires you.

Marvellous.

Is it so wrong to crave recognition? After reading a blog entry about TI, that seems to think so. Is it so wrong to let people take credit for their works, their time and their efforts? Personally I don’t see why it is so wrong. People should be allowed to post their own opinionated articles on the main site.

More to the point, do people do things for recognition, or for the good of the scene? People make things and write things for the good of other people, to improve there FM gaming and scene experience. This is what more people of the scene should do. GFX makers make GFX to improve the graphical experience of other people’s gaming, Cleon writes fantastic tutorials to improve people’s tactics and training but doesn’t crave the recognition some people do. There are a few types of article writers. Ones who educate and bring attention to things that are wrong about the scene. There people who provide mass articles to improve a quiet site in an attempt to bring in the punters, or to keep a good one going. Others, however, do it for the attention.

These are the people that crave recognition and why do they do this? They do this because they feel they cannot be accepted on this, now, politically based scene. People’s opinions have been enlarged and so have there egos. The scene has evolved, and people have to adapt to their surroundings and this change. You could say it is like survival of the fittest. Groups are formed, the so called ‘cool’ people of the scene, who have a big reputation. Maybe people feel intimidated, or lesser to them? Just because the people in these groups can bully other members or chat them down, and because they can stick together and show off to their peers, scene bullying maybe, but it happens. One way of getting a good reputation is writing articles etc, as this can help feed the craving for reputation and recognition to be big amongst the scene. But why did this come to this? Basically people are afraid to voice opinions and hide in the shadows, as the regulars of the politics take the front line.

There is no obvious way of getting round this, but you can make your own conclusions of this.

Marvellous.
