Improving M’kay

February 12, 2007

M’kay I am writing again, unfortunately. But this article or piece of text as it were, is in a different style, but its still something I believe in, as I would not be forced into writing for what people want to hear rather than writing my own views and expressing my feelings, about the scene. Anyhow, I believe the scene is coming back to its former glory, In more ways than one that is. When I say this, I don’t just mean the sites on the scene, but the members as well.

So we shall follow the windy track and end up at Susie, one of the first sites to show optimism for the scene, the main site is in progress and looking in good shape, courtesies of the fantastic Andersson, Susie has tarted herself up, forums and a similar main site look is upon us. There are a few more positive effects happening down Susie, a few of the old members have gone back there, Jordo, Rueben and more. This has certainly lightened up the off-topic areas ,and even then, there is more to come from the scenes former giant. A whole new staff team, some very exciting appointments, from the chief writer Fantastic, to Phantom of the GFX sections. I have already been hearing questions asked and hesitations about the rise of Susie, some of which, saying the site will need to have a dedicated staff team, which is what the site has lacked in the past, but I would say the resent appointments of Michael and VP stats the fact they are after constant activity from there staff.

As for the members of the scene improving, I can relate that back to Susie again. The members there were showing confidence for staffs decisions to appoint members, every decision was praised, and I believe overall the members of the scene are getting a lot less political or opinionated, The resent events at Throw-in have come off very light for the site, maybe you could put this down to clever actions, of closing the forums and getting the site upgraded, it may have clamed down events and stopped them from escalating, but if this predicament would have happened, say 3-4 months ago, Throw – in would have been torn to shreds. For this I praise the members of the scene.

Further more, I see a lot more promise for new sites on the scene, there will be a few more sites coming out in the near future. Toony and Sir Flash’s joint venture, I cant really say much about it, as I am sworn over oath, but I can confirm it will be released in the very near future and its made by Toony so its must be good. Also FM-Fusion, I have seen the main site and it looks in very nice shape, I see they are going for originality, with a black colour scheme which could be a nice refreshing idea, one idea that I had, therefore the whole of my site will have to be re-coded. Which leads me onto my site, yes another, I am catching up on Q now, anyway that should be released in the foreseeable future, but more details will be released soon.

The days of the scene are looking like they have been restored, to its former glory, or are certainly in process of restoration. The next couple of months should be very promising for the scene, and I look forward to them with baited breathe, and so should you.

Marvellous.

I have been told not to moan at the scene, but I am sorry I cant help but do it on this one occasion. “Hey All,
In light of recent issues between staff and members, both myself and Ash have taken the decision to close the forums until further notice.” I mean get a grip, Its not the first time this has happened either. If the staff  have problems with members of the forum why not sort it out with them instead of closing the forum, I forgot to mention the fact they need a good reason to warn or speak to the member, as I was unfortunately unavailable I did not get a first hand on what happened so I find it relatively hard to comment. But what I have gathered from several people, a member of staff posted his ugly mug in the mug thread and a certain member laughed, which resulted in a banning, I mean get a life, or a new face, If you are prepared to post your mug in the thread get prepared to take whatever stick or whatever may be given out.

I would like to pin this on the fact Footyslayer has left and maybe he has left the site in the wrong hands, maybe. But as I have already said this happened before remember the “are you missing us yet” or something along the lines, but seriously ask yourselves the question, what will happen if the constant slating off of members, results them in requiring an new home, will you feel abit aggrieved, will you be missing them, I believe so, but yes this probably wont happen, but I can guarantee you now, if you don’t loosen up, and get a sense of humour or in your case a sense of human, get prepared for the worst, because people will Elise they don’t have to keep taking any more of the site.

It also came to my attention that you have upgraded the forums, even if all the stuff that went on was the result in you closing the forums, why not a little white lie and say the reason you closed the forums was to get the best facilities in an upgrade for your dearest members, that make your site such a success and put it in the place that it is now, and give you something to do day in and out, aye? Is that so hard.

I just feel that TI should really start to repay the faith showed by there members, I mean what is stopping them from saying hold on  I might go and visit this site, or this one. Just to think every time you close you are pushing them, that much more away.

This aint a scene, it’s a god damn arms race, well at least it should be. From a now natural perspective, I feel some of my points raised in my, “Does The Scene Need More?” article are far wrong, After looking at a few sites to see where my Scene home should be, It hit me the scene is small, It used to be twice the size just a few months ago, but now there is nothing.

The scene is in deep need of more sites and not only more, but of good quality, there looks to be a few coming soon, one of which is run by Fantastic, which I am very exited about, but it seems to have gone quite, hopefully If someone involved in it, or fantastic himself reads this, will shed some light on the future of the site. Another site which I automatically hated at first as that’s just my personality, I form judgements quickly, but I am becoming very apprehensive of this site, It seems to be taking its time in opening giving me the impression the main site/forums are been worked on very heavily, and I know the forums will be of the best as Slashman X is involved, and is a master of IPB. Hopefully these two sites can add greatly to the FM scene, which is at the moment, some what short of what I would say acceptable to what we have come to appreciate.

There are a few reasons the scene is in these disastrous times, Goal – Kick , people have forgot about it, the people who jumped on the bandwagon to get at the site and put it down have become bored, and the people that offered to help but got told there opinions don’t count as they have only been on the forums a few weeks, have just left the site. Susie is so god damn slow, It frustrates the crap out off me and is a massive turn off in visiting the site.

I feel more sites should be made, to challenge current ones. Throw-In the only site at the moment worth visiting, and I feel the staff need to be kept on there toes, so I beg you make more sites and to keep the scene interesting.

Marvellous.

Stuck up, son of a bitch!

February 3, 2007

Something that has irritated me for a while now, is the fact that people who have only been on a site a few days or have a post count less than spammy 5,000, automatically means they don’t have a say on matters, or there opinion is not a valued one , or a wanted one.

Certain members feel the need to spam forums and fell that there post count is the only thing that matters in there scene life, If they have a post count of 1,000 and someone has 50 they are much better as a person and as a forum member they are of a much greater respect, let me tell you something your not, Post counts don’t matter and neither does the date you join the forum, everyone is still a humanbeing with the right to free speech , although some stuck up people believe that there thoughts and opinions are much more valid as there post count is in the hundreds and there join date goes right back to the start of the site, the person never thinks that what they could be saying is complete and utter shit.

What I say to those stuck up people is this, next time you disagree with a persons thoughts or views, go into the debate/arguments as it were with a clean post count or same post count and date of joinage, then you may come out of it much better as a level headed civilised individual.

This article was wrote as a certain member made me mad. I have also experienced this first hand, and realy would have liked to twat that person. I hope that them certain undervalues can try and debate more civilised in future minus the join date.

Marvellous.

Political Pogwash.

February 1, 2007

Why is the scene full of politics? I feel the whole concept off the scene has been lost, you ,may have joined the scene for several reasons, probably to find out some new players, talk about the future of the game and other such things, but now are you still apart of the scene because of them reasons? I highly doubt it, some people are part of the FM scene just for the off-topic sections, surely that defeats the object.

The scene is full of politics people love to boast there pointless opinions and revert to negative feedback rather than constructive, how does this help anyone? It dose not, the scene has lost its community feel, it should be full of people who want to help people, offer support offer there valid opinions. If a site is going threw some what of a crisis, then surely people should jump aboard to help and get it back on its feet rather than jumping on the political bandwagon, and tearing the site to pieces.

Goal – Kick is the site I have been referring to, the only way in which the site is heading back to where it once was, is because these political individuals have become bored , and have left it alone and now the staff can get the site back on track, it has took quite along time, but if them people whom demised the site once down, would have helped and offered support, the site would be back to its old self if not better.

So what makes these people jump on the band wagon of demise? Personally I would say to re-enforce there influence of the scene, to prove to them selves they can have an effect with there words and using them in a negative way shows them across better than in a positive way, as it will show more indefinitely.

Marvellous.

FM07

So the game was relesead, we all bought it and played it, started braging with it. We noticed the graphic changes and we liked them or for those who didn’t they just had to embrace them and carry on. The main point is that we were all happy with the new release and to see that some of our suggestions have been followed by the creators and added in the game. Now, most of us are ecstatic when we get a new thing and it just so happens that we can never get bored of it but then, what about the skeptics? Why do they have to come and ruin everything for us? It’s a very known fact that no matter how much would the creators of FM struggle to make the game as realistic and fun to play as possible, there will always be people unsatisfied with certain stuff and some who just want to ruin the mood to play for the rest.

The most common exampel would be the forums of different FM sites. Everybody hangs around on forums and share opinions about tactics, players and graphics, and here comes to most opportun moment for the *party crashers* to make their appereance. Have you noticed how it happens that when you have a nice game going, for example with Ajax, and the results are fair, the players do exactely what they are told, someone pops up and says I DON’T LIKE THIS GAME, this is the worst of its series. Oh, i get so many red cards, my players get injured so often, my goalkeeper can’t defend a back pass and all this stuff… And then everybody starts complaining about it; things that haven’t even been noticed before start to come out on top and even the good guys are looking for mistakes from the game. Oh yeah, you’re right, my game is crazy too, the referee gives way too many cards, the board goes over my decisions and bla bla bla. Oh why don’t you take that load of crap and shuve it?

The more the game advances in versions, the more complicated and real it gets. There are no levels of difficulty here… there are no *gave away* games… there are no *payed off* referees… it’s all in your head and you’d better grow up. Nobody is playing the game for you so therefor you are the only one who’s guilty if he’s team doesn’t perform. Change tactics, change formations, change players, use cheats… do something and stop complaining about your problems because YOU are destroying the game for everybody else. Ah, i know that is something else when you ask for advice but maybe you should do it in such a manner that you don’t upset everybody else too.

FM08

We just consider everything i said above history and we move on what it is to follow. My questions are: Will we see another FM this year? Are the SI experts satisfied with the people’s oppinion? And if they aren’t how are they gonna reply back?
MY idea is that they should follow the same pattern as they did untill now because a new face of the game at this time could really blow up in a negative way for the passionates. Pick up all the suggestions that you think is good and don’t hurry with adding so much new stuff that will turn the game into something that it shouldn’t supposed to be.

Anything else doesn’t matter, you do what you have to do and we are going to keep fighting over who’s right and who’s wrong, over which version is best and we also promise to be as ungratefull as we can twoardss your compassion of providing us with a new game when you can very well play it safe and join with EA Sports for example, and leaves the hugest swallowed lipp ever :) )

Scene of 2007

January 25, 2007

The year of 2007 is upon us, a year of new years resolutions, teams hitting form, teams losing it. But what does 2007 hold for the FM scene?

The New Throw-in – Manager Crisis:-
Manager Crisis, a brilliant main design, the forums are in need of a make over and are currently going threw a new makeover. Maybe the Waytey and Zebian effect has warn off, but if the site continues to look good, and keeps the community chat up, we could soon be looking at the biggest site of the scene.

The New Dugout – FMBritian :-
No matter how hard they try, it seems at the moment FM Britain is going threw bad times, A new design is been worked on, it looks good, but maybe not enough to get the site up the Scene table, Articles are been added at a much quicker rate, the forums are still inactive, but hard work may see the site threw or kill it off, when the new design comes out, if the site is still inactive, this could be the end of the site.

The New Susie – FMGraphics :-
With Susie constantly been slow, and frustrating , this calls for the next catalogue of downloads FMGraphics, with hard working GFX staff working exclusively, and coming up with the new GFX ideas such as Stadium Title bars. With the forums now active in all sections, the content will rise highly, this could be the new Susie.

The New Scene Craze – Blogs :-

Not only blogs but rant blogs, blogs against the FM scene, more people on the scene are becoming opinionated and the best way of showing this is via blogs. Over the next few months there will be a much higher increase in sites giving there controversial opinions.

The New Unsung Hero – MymanagerCV :-

The best concept of a site I have seen, fantastically set up, the forums offer great tactile help, thanks to Cleon, and his amazing articles. The site will finally let you boast about your FM achievements and see if you are as good as you think you are.

The New New Flop – Fcuk :-

Fcuk is coming back, but I believe it will be the next new site to flop and end up as just an idea that could have, Reopening the site, wont instantly get all the old members back and staff and make it as popular as it once was. Maybe the breathe of new air was needed, or maybe not.

The New Scene Toper – The-Beautiful-Game :-

I have heard a few ideas of the new fan site, it wont be short of opinions, ran by Fantastic and with great staff, the site has the makings to be a top site, I am sure closer to the opening, you will see some of fantastic proper gander posters, to lure attention to the site, but the site will get attention for the right reasons, lets just hope its going to last longer than other projects, such as Balls.

I know you wont agree with most of my views, but remember that’s what they are my personal views, the idea of this is so you can share yours by discussing them and not having a rant at me for expressing my opinions,

Marvellous.

Does The Scene Need More?

January 25, 2007

I see many threads, asking members of certain forums, “What would you like to see from the scene”, “What do you think the scene needs?”. But I ask you dose the scene need any more? Most areas have already been covered. Sortitoutsi or Susie as it were, provides great downloads a few articles and has very active forums, but with all its positives, a slow servers makes members frustrated. Throw-in known as TI, a very strong community, some very dedicated members although the GFX side of things isn’t the best on the scene, This is were other sites come in such as Susie as and FMGraphics, to cut along story short the scene already has everything you need, things you cant get on certain sites you can on others.

What the scene doesn’t need is any more pure fan sites, the scene has plenty of site giving nothing in particular, apart from chat about the game, a couple of GFX a splash of articles and people wonder why members aren’t coming to the site, the answer is it has nothing to offer, it needs a USP – Unique selling point, something that will appeal to people and make them change from there current site to your site, Why shop at Netto when you can shop at Tesco? The only reason a core FM site could work, would be if it had great staff, It is near impossible for someone making a new site, for the fist time, with an average reputation, to make there site succeed.

So does the scene need more? Personally there are a few elements I would like to see elaborated such as certain LLM areas improved, FM:B/FM Britain have made the only few steps towards improving this area, but as I often check up on FM:B it’s a very inactive site so it has not had the activity or input required, to make anything off it. There for I believe a LLM site should be established, the site should mainly concentrate on Tactics and Training as it is more fundamental to Lower League Management. Benefits of the site include improving the awareness of LLM and T&T or Tactics and Training, the more management side of the game, elements of LLM and the tactics learnt from the site, can also be used on your other games saves, giving you an all-round education on the game.

Once you have your idea, I am going to try and help you and the scene by making the site, end up with a URL and not just an idea, that once could have worked, If you would have had the inclination to do so.

Making the site, when you come to make a site, you have your idea for this we shall use the LLM idea. I have my idea then you will need to get other such things sorted like a name/domain, forums and hosting. Lets say you have all this, and you have your concept of the site, you will need to get your site sorted out. There are a few things you will need to take aboard, People who agree with your views from been around the scene, this will give them more motivation to work with you and make the site a success and for full its potential. So with a bit of research I see there are a couple of areas I need staff for, I need some form of Tactics/Training staff member and as I will need to tutor people so that there are a few more members my site will appeal to, so Guides are the best way and there Is no better person than Cleon, a Tactical genius who’s articles are of a second to none standed, as you may need a second T&T staff member Gobwolf would be a great catch, with fantastic experience in the matter, his tips could help you improve no end. As for the actual LLM side of things, Fantastic/ Fanny shares similar views that the LLM side of things should be improved, He has wrote an inspirational article, other such articles are needed for a wider audience and should intrigue people to come visit and post and improve that side of there FM.

Staff is sorted, your concept and now you will have some content from your staff but you may need more, for this you will need to go around the scene collecting relevant articles and getting authors permissions. Now you have the content and everything else you need except a design, there are a few ways of going about this, using Joomla and creating a fresh easy to use site, but that is the main aim, Is to make people look twice then once they are looking twice make it easy to navigate, this may take time to get the right soft where design etc, but its worth it, You may want to advertise your site, there are a few ways, personally I would say plug it early to get peoples awareness up and make people interested, if they like the concept they will keep checking back, don’t keep them waiting to long as they will get feed up, make a promo video is a good idea to get people into the swing of things, just make sure that’s not all you offer and make sure the site follows. Use propaganda posters a favourite of Fanny’s but these are very effective, but they most be done write and portray a good image of the site and make your views clear.

In conclusion there is little point, in starting a site that offers nothing new, the only way it could possibly work is great staff which would attract members and kick start a growing community, but as for new comers etc, It is very hard to create a successful site that why you have to come up with a clear goal and work towards that, so yes the scene dose need more, but no the scene doesn’t need unnecessary additions, so new comers beware it may be a waste of time/effort and money, but that’s for you to decide.

This article was to try and inspire the scene and to try and get the most out of it, Some people mentioned were used as examples don’t feel any reason to fore fill your duty, as you were the cream of the crop and your names were necessarily included for the sake of the article, Thanks for reading, hope it inspires you.

Marvellous.

Is it so wrong to crave recognition? After reading a blog entry about TI, that seems to think so. Is it so wrong to let people take credit for their works, their time and their efforts? Personally I don’t see why it is so wrong. People should be allowed to post their own opinionated articles on the main site.

More to the point, do people do things for recognition, or for the good of the scene? People make things and write things for the good of other people, to improve there FM gaming and scene experience. This is what more people of the scene should do. GFX makers make GFX to improve the graphical experience of other people’s gaming, Cleon writes fantastic tutorials to improve people’s tactics and training but doesn’t crave the recognition some people do. There are a few types of article writers. Ones who educate and bring attention to things that are wrong about the scene. There people who provide mass articles to improve a quiet site in an attempt to bring in the punters, or to keep a good one going. Others, however, do it for the attention.

These are the people that crave recognition and why do they do this? They do this because they feel they cannot be accepted on this, now, politically based scene. People’s opinions have been enlarged and so have there egos. The scene has evolved, and people have to adapt to their surroundings and this change. You could say it is like survival of the fittest. Groups are formed, the so called ‘cool’ people of the scene, who have a big reputation. Maybe people feel intimidated, or lesser to them? Just because the people in these groups can bully other members or chat them down, and because they can stick together and show off to their peers, scene bullying maybe, but it happens. One way of getting a good reputation is writing articles etc, as this can help feed the craving for reputation and recognition to be big amongst the scene. But why did this come to this? Basically people are afraid to voice opinions and hide in the shadows, as the regulars of the politics take the front line.

There is no obvious way of getting round this, but you can make your own conclusions of this.

Marvellous.
